As an advocate for the music of Lili Boulanger, Penner frequently performs and presents on her songs and solo piano music, most recently giving a lecture recital on the newly released manuscript of Boulanger’s Thème et variations at the 2023 Music by Women Festival in Columbus, MS. An avid performer of 20th- and 21st-century music, Penner has additionally worked with composers William Bolcom, Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, and Matthew Aucoin.

Penner holds a DMA in Piano Performance from Stony Brook University and recently joined the faculty at Baylor University’s School of Music. She was previously a Lecturer of Piano at the University of Nevada, Reno, and coached chamber music at the Stony Brook Young Artist Program.
